Top Questions - Answers. Who is Nature In Black White or Mark J. Harlow. A Must Read for knowing more about Mark J. Harlow.
1) What is Gicleé printing?

Pronounced "Zhee-Clay", it is a French term for “spray of ink.” This is the world standard for reproducing Museum Quality Fine Art. Not to be confused with Lithography (traditiional art prints). Expensive? Not really... Better Value? YES! Here's why...

Conventional art prints (lithographs) are printed with a 4-color process at 300 dots per inch. They are VERY sensitive to light and fading, more economical and faster to print. Our black and white Gicleé prints are printed at 1,440 dots per inch!, have an archival rating of 65 years on paper and 100+ years on canvas! In the time it takes us to print two 30 inch prints, you could print 7,000 art prints...No Kidding!

Our black and white nature prints and canvases will last a lifetime and can be passed down to the next generation of children or friends. Traditional art prints (lithographs) have no archival ratings or warranties! Our entire black and white photo gallery is produced with the Giclee' technique...even the little Nook sizes!. All of our products feature a Lifetime Warranty against picking, cracking or peeling.

2) What or Who is Shingobee Studios?

Shingobee Studios is the main company for all of Mark's work. The reason for MarkJHarlow.com, NatureInBlackandWhite.com and eventually WildMustangSite.com and EagleLovers.com is for market specific websites. We are all one company. That is why all of our pricing is exact and any Gift Certificate from any of our websites will work anywhere in the Shingobee Studios family of websites. Some of our customers are diehard black and white fans, some are Wild Mustang lovers and so on. We decided not to put all of our images under one website. Make sense? We think so. :)

3) How long will it take to get my order?

Nothing is "mass produced", most orders are Made to Order. For prints, please allow 7-10 days to complete. For Canvases, please allow 3-weeks to complete.

If you don't have time to plan ahead there are a couple of options: 1) Look at our "Ready Now" section (coming soon) where the shown item(s) are available for immediate shipping. There may be just the one, so try not to come back in a few days and expect to have it available. 2) Another GREAT option is our Gift Certificates.

Visit our Gift Certificates section. Please allow 3-4 days as we need to "custom make" it for the recipent (if Mark is in the studio and not on a trip in that case, please allow 1-week). That way the person you give it to can pick out whatever they want! How exciting is that?!

4) Why aren't your Black and Whites cheaper than color?

Unlike your printer at home or work, our inks are not consumer grade inks (where black ink is cheaper than color). Our professional grade inks are the same price "across the board" no matter which colors we are using. It is still a two day process to make one print, just like our color prints.

1) What if I don't have any wall space left and want one of your pieces?

A very common comment is: "I don't have any wall space left". Whether you buy one of our pieces or not, the truth of the matter is you should rotate your artwork or better yet put them in the closet or dark area for 6-12 months. This is especially true with a conventional art print (lithograph) that only has standard glass over it. These can fade easliy when displayed in a bright room or under flourescent lighting. Another option is to donate one or more of your pieces that you have lost interest in. I know there are plenty of non profit organizations, nursing homes and the like that may be very happy to have a nice piece of art. That would be a tax deductable donation as well.

5) What if I see something on your Shingobee site that is not on this site? How do I order it?

Because our pricing is exact from site to site, all you need to do is choose the appropriate or matching sized & priced item, then on your "Check Out" please tell us to replace it with the print/canvas you want (in the Special Instructions window).

For example: Say you were at the Shingobee Studios website under Wild Mustangs. You saw the print: "Watchful Eyes" and wanted a large print but you didn't see it here (MarkJHarlow.com).

All you need to do while on this site is select ANY Large print from the drop down menu, "Add To Cart" and then "Check Out". In the Special Instructions Box; TYPE IN: Replace this with "Watchful Eyes" Mustang print. It's that easy!
